THE PARSONS CHALLENGE
Like promised, I decided to share some pieces from my portfolio. In addition to creating a portfolio for Parsons, one also has to partake in the Parsons Challenge. One must take an object that is overlooked in everyday life and create three pieces of art from it. Since I live in the countryside there are dilapidated barns everywhere. I have some odd fascination with them and think they are exceptionally beautiful. So from that initial inspiration my pieces of art consisted of a photograph, a charcoal drawing and an ink wash using charcoal and colored pencil. They took a while to finish but it was worth it. I mean I did get accepted after all. ;)

Hi.. I have a question.. how did you decided on what to do for the parsons challenge. I do DRAWINGS of fashion and abstract art and I'm still undecided on what to do with my parsons challenge..
ReplyDeleteThanks for your interest! For my prompt, I was asked to create three works of art based off of an object, thing, event, person, etc. that was overlooked in my daily life. I do not know if it is the same prompt since this was two years ago. I live in the countryside and have always found old, dilapidated barns to be beautifully captivating. It had personal meaning to me so I felt I could really dive into the project and connect with it. I suggest that you find something you have a deep connection with because it makes the project a much more enjoyable experience rather than a mundane task. Some questions to consider… What is an object that I really love? What constantly inspires me? What makes me stop and ponder? What are some of my interests that make me unique? Essentially they want to see your personality, effort and skills. I hope this helps and if you have any other questions feel free to contact me. Good luck!
