COLLEGE BOUND

Hey There! Wow its been like a month! Sorry for the hiatus. The stresses of college were in full force. But no need to worry... I'm back and reporting all of the trendy and hot fashion here in Madison! It will be a fun year of fashion for sure since I'll be around fashionistas from around the country. Well here I am outside of my lovely dorm, Sullivan! (Trust me, it really isn't that lovely but I'll try to make the most of it.)  Can't wait to share all of the fun and exciting things here at Madison over the next year! Hope you'll enjoy the wild ride as much as I do!

ROYAL COLORS

I think this chair is phenomenal. Completely opposite of my normal taste which is strictly black and white with lots of hot pink but I think this is so cool. If Alice in Wonderland, Dr. Seuss and Picasso had a baby this armchair would be it. It's a fabulous piece until you look at the price tag... over $13,000. A bit ridiculous I think.

BOMBSHELL

How absolutely gorgeous is this babe I get to call my cousin? Um... freaking gorgeous! This soon-to-be model, Maggie, definitely has an unknown talent. I barely had to do anything and the photos turned out phenomenal. She needs to move in with me so I can photograph her everyday. Talk about model as muse...

THE SKETCHBOOK DIARIES

During my portfolio crunch time I was sketching, sketching, sketching like crazy! Here are my three favorite. The first was a mashup sketch of all my lovely perfume bottles, the second was a rendering of my pretty painted toenails and the last was an ink study with my favorite quote of all time from the best book of all time, The Great Gatsby. Therefore, go sketch your little brains away!

DAYS OF OLD

Here are some candid shots from last summer. I loved this outfit and was obsessed with the polka dot tank top after I saw Emma Stone clad in polka dots on the cover of ELLE. Simply polka dot chic.
Amazing photography courtesy of my sister, Simone.

SPEED DEMON

I stumbled upon these exotic Lamborghini heels the other day and knew I had to share them. I think they are to die for. Unfortunately, they are only a concept generated on the computer by Tonino Lamborghini modeled after the Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggra. The actual heel does exist... yet. Oh but when they do I want a pair and maybe a matching Lamborghini to go with. ;)

MY BUDDY ROY

I like to think of this blog as being more of a design blog rather than a fashion blog. The design aspect and process is what interests me most so I think it is only appropriate I share some of my inspiration. Perhaps one of my favorite artists, Roy Lichtenstein holds a special place in my heart. I've loved him since day one and his art work continues to inspire me. The second picture from the top is my rendition of the first picture done in acrylic paint. It is such a powerful image and so much is said just by the one image. It is true. A picture is worth a thousand words.

THE PARSONS CHALLENGE

Like promised, I decided to share some pieces from my portfolio. In addition to creating a portfolio for Parsons, one also has to partake in the Parsons Challenge. One must take an object that is overlooked in everyday life and create three pieces of art from it. Since I live in the countryside there are dilapidated barns everywhere. I have some odd fascination with them and think they are exceptionally beautiful. So from that initial inspiration my pieces of art consisted of a photograph, a charcoal drawing and an ink wash using charcoal and colored pencil. They took a while to finish but it was worth it. I mean I did get accepted after all. ;)

GUCCI MANIA

Gucci. Gucci. Gucci. I absolutely love Gucci. Even though Tom Ford is my favorite designer, Gucci is a very close second. I believe that is due to the fact that Tom Ford practically remade Gucci to what it is today. However, I absolutely adore Frida Giannini as well. I praise here work and think she is a genius. Here are some fabulous photos from my trip to New York City. I had to stop at the Gucci store when we were there especially to see the amazing 1920's art deco inspired Spring 2012 collection. The two bottom photos are from Gucci's children collection. I like to call it 'Baby Gucci.' I totally am dressing my children in all Baby Gucci when I am older. As shown it really can't get much chicer than Gucci. So on an ending note all I have to say is more Gucci please!

HEY GORGEOUS

Aren't these the most gorgeous shoes in the entire world? They have been my top three favorite ever since I first laid eyes on them. I think they are some pretty fabulous foot candy.
     1. Topshop 'Walberg' Black Suede Wedges
     2. Charlotte Olympia Red Suede Booties
     3. Christian Louboutin Embellished Platform Heels

GETTING MY GROOVE ON

Summer 2012 Playlist:
1. "Take A Walk" by Passion Pit
2. "The King and All Of His Men" by Wolf Gang
3. "Punching In A Dream" by The Naked and Famous
4. "Headlights" by Morning Parade
5.  "Free" by Graffiti6

I have been madly obsessed with these songs lately. I play them over and over on the CD I made. Oh yes I'm kicking it old school with a CD. ;) I'm sure most alternative/ indie rock/ indie pop hipsters have heard these songs long ago but they have become new classics in my music collection. On the contrary, my family would have to disagree with me.  My brother proclaimed these songs make him want to go to sleep. I understand my music is not for everyone, but if you do love it as much as I do... kudos to you. You just earned ten brownie points.

STARRY EYES

This is my absolute favorite sparkly black creme eyeshadow by Chanel. Its called Illusion d'Ombre and I highly recommend trying it. I found it at the Chanel counter last Christmas and knew I had to have it. People always tell me the sparkles are mesmerizing whenever I wear it. I like to have that effect on people. :)

OH HEY, I'M MADALYN...

I figured since I'm sharing my fashion, inspiration, art, design and essentially life with you I should at least properly introduce myself. After all, The Naked Dreamer does have a name... Hello, I'm Madalyn! I love fashion. As cliched as it sounds... fashion is my passion. It isn't so much the actually garment as it is the process of designing and creating. I am not a privileged, wealthy fashionista who jet sets to Milan every weekend for private fashions nor do I own a penthouse in New York and know every single fashion editor alive. I am an ordinary person from a small town in beautiful Wisconsin who has a drive and desire to accomplish her dreams. My dream was and still is to attend Parsons New School for Design for Fashion Design. So I applied and surprisingly was accepted. I started crying the moment I read the letter because I was so happy. However, I am not attending there my first year due to the fact I'm not ready to up and leave my whole life. I am hoping and praying I will be able to the following year. I'm sure I'll share much more from my portfolio. :) So in an effort to keep me thinking creatively and pushing myself I decided to start this blog. It is purely for myself since I love fashion, writing and photography and it combines all three. I hope my love of fashion and art and design inspires others to create and achieve their dreams.

COVETED FENDI B BAG

I think it is time I make a confession. I have been in a love affair for the past year. It has become quite serious and involved. I'm madly in love with... a handbag. This fabulous white leather Fendi B bag has had my heart since I first laid eyes on it last summer. I vow to myself that I will own one in the future. It is just too darn pretty.

ARABIAN NIGHTS

I'm not a fan of volume and colors. I never have and it probably will always be a struggle for me. My personal style consists of black, white and hot pink and fitted, sleek silhouettes. It's what I prefer so when I was faced with a challenge  of volume and color, it was a double whammy. I think I did a pretty decent job for my first venture outside of my comfort zone. Therefore, I present you with my mini collection... Arabian Nights. Enjoy. :)
